I’m still surprised that you manage to do so smooth painting on these comics board XD
I dunno.. I never could do any watercolors on it without having the paper… kinda “destoyed”; it’s just like these boards don’t like water color at all.
I know it’s not the smooth side, because smooth watercolors paper are pretty good.
ah… whatever !

Hey there Ced
It’s interesting that things looks smooth to you. To me they look pretty rough around the edges. I feel like I’m still needing to be smoother.

MMM maybe “smooth” is not the appropriated word… maybe I was more looking for the term “clean” and without “damage on paper” XD
my english is sometimes not good enought when it’s about going deeper in explaination !

I thinks it’s really fine the way it is. that’s one of the true interest of traditionnal mediums…keeping a bit of roughness !

Can you describe what happens to the paper when you experienced these problems? If I can understand what the damage is that you talk about I may be able to make suggestions in combating it.

hum; no I can’t…
I spent 2days looking for the right words, but no.
Just let says that when the water is on the paper, this one don’t absord it very well, then it tends to produce amounts of small particles of paper…. and… well visually speaking that’s horrible.
Hummmm…
it’s like slowly scatching a wet paper in term of rendering …

Kind of funny here. I have a friend who lives in the UK and it’s really hard for her to get comics so I sent her copies of the first four Batwoman in Detective Comics issues. She’s 18, btw and this is her take on them :

“I’ve read the comics, and they’re awesome – I love the art work, particularly the cover of the 3rd one, and Alice! Also, Kate is pretty damn hot.”

I had to laugh, so thought I’d share!

Looking forward to the next issue!

Hey there Ced
Yeah, that doesn’t sound fun at all. It seems that you might be using a bad grade of paper. Your best bet is to buy more expensive stuff. I find that higher cost tends to mean higher quality results.

hey there Pam
thanks for introducing the work to new readers, and sharing their comments. Very cool.

Dude, I just finished reading the first arc of Batwoman. As a comic collector for over 15 years, I honestly think it had the best artwork, layouts, and colors I’ve ever seen. You did an amazing job. I can’t wait for more.

Hey i wanted to know, u use inkwash right?
Im only 16 and i want to become a comic book artist and you are a really huge inspiration for me. Your work is awesome and ii havent been able to read the books sadly because i live in peru and there are comic shops here but they only bring a couple of copies of every book andit seems im going to have to wait for the trade.

Im trying to get more of your work especially promethea but your work in DetectiveCom. is amazing.

Hey there
Yeah, I do use some ink wash, but I also use many other mediums to get whatever desired effect I’m looking for on these pages. Thank you for your kind words about the work.
