New York City…
Friday March 05th 2010, 11:57 amWendy and I just got back from our trip to New York. It was an amazing time for us because it was our first time visiting there. We completely fell in love with it, the atmosphere and energy of the place, and the people. Everywhere we went in the city the people were so nice. We got to check out the DC offices for a day and meet a lot of people that we only usually speak with on the phone or email. Had some meetings with my editor Mike Siglain and Dan Didio about future possibilities.
We spent some of the time doing the tourist thing but for the most part we just walked around everywhere and took it all in, to get the feel of the place. Central park with the snow still fresh on the ground was stunningly beautiful next to the city skyline. Lot’s of amazing food too. Just a wonderful trip. There was so much to see with such little time that we clearly only scraped the surface of what the city is about.
The convention went well and was a lot of fun, met lots of wonderful fans and did a few drawings that turned out okay. Had dinner with Ivan Brandon, his fiancee Christine (I hope I got that right), Andy Macdonald, Cliff Chiang, and couple of other folks that unfortunately I don’t think I got their names (my bad).
The signing for Forbidden Planet was great and pretty busy with such short notice for us to be there. Thanks to Jeff Ayers and the staff. Everyone there was so nice, it was a real pleasure. I would love to come back and do it again sometime.
Below is the cover I did for issue 862 of Detective Comics, which features the second part of the arc by Greg Rucka and Jock. I hope you like it…

Hey there Christopher
You are way too kind. Looking forward to the new magazine.
So… meetings with the Big Cheese at DC … any new breaking news for us fans?!?! Any big, sorta, you know, announcements you care to make?!? 😀
Comment by Pam 03.08.10 @ 4:05 pmIvan’s fiancee’s name is Kristyn, though I’m sure she doesn’t mind, you were close. She’s a great graphic designed and comic letter.
Comment by Tyler Chin-Tanner 03.10.10 @ 1:02 amI hope the future possibilities include Batwoman! I can’t imagine anyone less drawing her now…
Comment by Philippe Demers 03.12.10 @ 12:46 pmYou mean you’re not going to just do Batwoman forever? I’d cry, but then again, I’m sure whenever I find out what you are doing after Batwoman I’ll immediately decide it’s the best idea ever.
I mean, there are still writers who haven’t produced career-best work with you yet. Poor hacks like Geoff Johns and Neil Gaiman deserve a chance to have their comics become transcendent works of brilliance. 😉
Comment by Phil Sandifer 03.13.10 @ 11:05 amMaybe everyone knows this, but are you going to do any Batwoman again? Or is it Jock now.
Comment by Dakota 03.17.10 @ 12:24 pmHey there Pam
Sorry still no concrete news, at this point I’m not sure what is going on. All I know for sure is that nothing is moving forward.
Hey there Tyler
Thanks for the spell check on her name. That name can be a bit tricky, there seems to be numerous ways of it’s spelling.
Oh, well, I loved your style, first saw it when reading Batwoman, and really thought you did a great job. I hope you go back to it, but if not I’m excited to keep following it and the other work you do.
Comment by Dakota 03.23.10 @ 5:26 amMr. Williams:
It was with great dismay that I read today that the ongoing Batwoman book with you and Greg won’t happen.
Sadly, this book is the one title that reignited my enthusiasm to travel to the shop once a month to purchase Detective Comics – any comics for that matter – after getting burned out on the onslaught of “event” comics and other titles that seemed boring, dated or trite.
I can’t tell you what a special book this has been. The most refreshing new character I can remember reading with the most transformative and compelling art imaginable.
I truly hope this isn’t so. And I truly hope DC hasn’t lost faith in the character or fallen prey to some dated concept of conservative corporate values in deciding to cancel an ongoing title with you, Greg and Kate.
This character – and your breathtaking work – are what the comic industry needs.
If the demise of this title is true, it is a truly sad and disappointing moment.

That sounds like a wonderful time, and well earned. You know, the fun thing about watching you grow as an artist is that every time I see a new work, I can’t imagine you possibly getting any better. Then you do.
