The Scott Pilgrim Rally Cry!
Monday August 16th 2010, 12:32 amI played hooky a bit tonight from work to go see Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I’m a big fan of the book, and O’Malley in general. So I really wanted to see this. Now that I have, I’m shocked that this movie is not selling through the roof!! This deserves to be a mega hit. Its fucking genius! Period! The book is genius too, and I was super impressed with how well it translated to film. The people who made this movie clearly loved the source and gave us something that matched the essence of the book. I’ve not seen anything like it. A truly unique film experience. Vivid and funny. I caught myself just purely smiling through almost the entire thing. It just feels good.
So this is my rally cry! Everyone to go see this movie! If you love the book, go see this movie. If you’ve seen the movie and love it, but not read the book, go buy it. Right now! If you done neither, go do both. Go. Right Now! Quit reading this!! And GO RIGHT NOW!!!!

Hey there John!
Thank you very much. I hope you’ll like Scott Pilgrim as much as I did. As for the con in New York, I’m afraid not. My con travel schedule is for overseas this fall beginning in September.
saw it and loved it and seeing it again this weekend! not sure if i will read the books though. i love the humor, but im not big on the art
Comment by spencer 08.21.10 @ 12:28 amCool. I really love the art. I can’t see the story being done any other way. If you decide to read it, you may find just how effective the art is with story.
Comment by jhw3 08.21.10 @ 3:31 pmI really want to see it, but rumors are going around my country doesn’t get it yet untill 2011 for some localisation issues.
So dissapointed ;(
Have just finished reading the books though, I really loved them and was kind of dissapointed they stopped. It’s the kind of world you want to stay in.
Comment by Hasker 08.21.10 @ 11:56 pmHey there Hasker
Totally agree on the books, really wish it would continue.
ok well from afar the art looks very manga-y, and me and manga have a complicated past, so i am turned off. but if you are THAT into it, and because your art is crazy awesome, then i may have to give it another look, and possibly jump on this ban wagon. and i am a core edgar wright fan, so i better dig up some $$

Well, if you do give it a shot I sincerely hope you find it as gratifying as I do.
a bit behind on your blog!
I saw this opening night and then twice again opening weekend!
I really loved it! I also really love the books. I do like the books more, especially in relation to the ending. 🙂
But overall a great great movie!
Comment by j3nz 09.09.10 @ 8:33 pmI loved this movie and was also smiling all the way through it. Definately my favourite movie of the year.
Edgar Wright is a genius and I can’t wait to own this movie. Just makes you wish that more comic to film projects paid more care and attention to the original material.
Comment by Wunder 10.10.10 @ 5:13 amI hope the dvd will have cool stuff on it that wasn’t in the film itself.
Comment by jhw3 10.12.10 @ 4:21 pmi know its a little bit late but what the hell. LOL
i agree on everything you said. i actually posted something on my blog about this film being snubbed on this years academy awards for visual effects. hell, it could give the other nominees such as iron man 2, inception and alice in wonderland a run for their money.
Comment by Geebee 02.09.11 @ 2:14 pmhave you bought the blu-ray yet JH? It’s absolutely awesome. Crammed with goodies!
Comment by Alex MacPhee 02.17.11 @ 9:16 amUnfortunately I haven’t had the opportunity to pick up any dvds for a awhile, but I have a wish list running, so it’ll end up here at some point.

First off, a belated congratulations on your overdue double win! Secondly, I have neither read Scott Pilgrim, nor watched it, but I plan to remedy the latter this weekend, and the former when I make it through the books above it in the pile. Thirdishly, is there any chance that you will be attending New York Comic Con? (Not the Wizard one, the Javits one.)
