So. Happy. Can’t wait to get it as soon as the LCS opens up!

Also, that cover is frigging amazing, both in concept and execution.

Hey there SoldierHawk
Glad you dig the cover. I hope enjoy the issue.

It’s a great job!

Rich Johnson pointed it out- what happened to the Bat Family characters that have been “lightning-erased”?

Wonderful work!

LOVED this issue! Review should be up tonight or tomorrow–looking forward to telling everyone about the best series in the DCnU!

Artwork question for you that I’ve been wondering for a while though: why is it that Kate has such pale skin in public out of costume? Does she just choose to wear her makeup all the time, and wouldn’t that kind of blow her cover?

Hey there Deane
thanks very much!

Hello SoldierHawk
Glad you liked the issue.

Here’s the thing about Kate’s skin. She is a natural ginger, redhead. But of the variety that their skin is almost without pigment, a porcelain skin tone. I’ve met several redhead’s that have this quality, they are so white that they’re very haunting to look at in a way, very striking. It seems to me that there are a variety of redheads of varying skin complexions, just as there are with blondes and brunettes. So we went with this for her, as it fit her best.

I think I might be sounding like a broken record at this point, but I think my feelings about Batwoman #2 can be summed up by the fact that I can’t believe I only paid $2.99 for this book!!! I walked around with this book today showing random people I know that don’t read comics how awesome this book is. I think they all thought I was crazy. But regardless… so great!

Hey there Christopher
You’re making me blush, and thank you.

I read this last night. Amazing art, so beautiful. I saw Desolation Jones in the club seen…and maybe a couple other recognizable people too.

What I find amazing is hat no matter how creative you get with the panels, the narrative is still easy to follow. I’m never wondering where to read next.

Will you be selling pages from the Batwoman series on this site sometime soon?

Thanks!

Shannon

I cannot wait until the Chase/Batwoman meeting.

Hey there Shannon
Thank you very much. And yes, art will be made available shortly, expect an announcement here when I have confirmed dates.

Hello HellBlazerRaiser
Glad you dig the issue. Based on your handle, are you a Barker fan? I’ve been picking up the new Hellraiser comics.

Another lovely issue. I loved the Crisis-ghosts for Flashbooted characters in the Batman Inc. panel. Was that a solution you came up with because the image was finished before you knew about (the effects of) the reboot? If that’s not too much insider info; it’s great whatever the origins.

Hey there James
Thanks very much. And yeah, you’ve got it.

Comment by jwh3 10.14.11 @ 10:28 am

Man so, so, so good.

One of my favorite things about this issue, is when you have a big scene that you think Batwoman isn’t involved in… look again.. She’s in hiding! Taking the time to really pour over the art makes this book worth it alone, and the fact there is actually a story seems like a free bonus.

Keep keepin’ on!

Comment by Zach 10.14.11 @ 10:58 am

Hey there Zach
Thank you very much. Yeah, we’re wanting to do scenes showing the stealthy aspect of being Batwoman. Part of detecting sometimes is just observing while hidden.

What a great issue Mr. Williams! That spread with Sawyer running the scenario for Chase was awesome, and that last page was super-creepy. Kudos to W.H.B. as well and Dave Stewart.

Hello JoseVC
Thank you. I’m glad you found it worthy your time.

Hi JH.

I know it’s very early to ask this, but I was surprised how early DC released the Flashpoint HC. Does this mean that for those who don’t get floppies anymore, the wat for the second Batwoman HC won’t be that long?

Comment by Alex 10.14.11 @ 8:08 pm

Hello Alex
No one from DC has talked to me yet about the collected edition. Flashpoint maybe was put on the fast track because of the relaunch of the DCU.

Comment by jwh3 10.15.11 @ 1:10 am

yeah, that was my initial feelings too about why Flashpoint was released so soon as well

Comment by Alex 10.15.11 @ 8:07 pm

Unfortunately, computer issues have delayed my responding here … but I just have to say – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

I am completely and utterly loving the new series!!!

Sincerely, I’m in awe. The artwork is just fantastic and the story is great! All I could have hoped for, and more.

It’s a relief that Kate is in such good hands! ( literally! )

All the best!!

Hello Satch
🙂

What a wonderful job you and your team are doing with this comic! It’s the comic I anticipate the most every month, and the one I reread several times after. I first found out about your work upon seeing it on the first covers of Batman Inc., (I’ve just recently gotten into reading D.C., about a year and a half now), and I keep getting blown away by the quality, composition and intensity of your work. Keep it up! Anxious about finding out what happens in issue 3. 🙂

Comment by Tim 10.28.11 @ 3:37 pm

Hello there Tim
Thank you so much for very kind words. I hope we manage to keep you engaged.

Just wanted to add another quick note about this issue …. the pages where Maggie is breaking down the crime scene? Just so awesome! Such detail. Love this issue!

Comment by Pam 11.09.11 @ 5:52 pm

Thanks Pam, that scene was a lot of work.

Comment by jhw3 11.09.11 @ 8:29 pm

Oh, I can imagine it must have taken a lot of time … but from a readers perspective, it was definitely worth it. Those pages are just spectacular, and the storytelling, in the art alone, is outstanding!

Comment by Pam 11.10.11 @ 8:38 am

Hey there Pam
You’re much too kind, but thank you so much.
